10 whispers that make you rethink the purchase of Coir Fibre Mattress

I wrote this sequel since the first was pointing out the good points.
These disadvantages are written constructively to not reflect badly on the coir fibre mattress itself, and are more of a constructive criticism.
So you will understand better the nature of the materials used.

1• Maybe too Firm

Firm-mattress

For some people, the Coir Fibre mattress may not suit everyone’s taste in mattress. The firm quality if fine for some but will not provide the ultra-soft bed comfort that most people enjoy. It is not recommended for people that are expecting soft and spongy.

If you tend to have somewhat firm bedding, this might be a good option for you.

2• Can eventually become saggy

saggy-mattress-sagging

Over a while, pressure points where your body is laying can develop depressions in some spots. Once it sags in these areas, the mattress doesn’t return to its’ original position. It doesn’t happen overnight, but the process is eventually developing over time.

Of course this may happen with most types of mattress, but with coconut bedding, the probability is higher.

3• Increased pressure points

pressure points

Some spots on your body can be sensitive to this firm surface and increase the pressure points to that part of your body. There will be some people who will be aching more in the morning as a result.

This can only happen when your body touches the mattress on those high points resulting in sore spots’.

4• Uncomfortable for some

Uncomfortable-mattress

For those who have never slept on a firm Coir Fibre mattress before, the sensation will be hard to adjust to. Because of the coconut fiber firmness, most people feel they are too uncomfortable. This type of mattress is specific for selective sleeping needs for the sole purpose where a firm surface is best.

Thus it may be a suitable type for those who suffer from (back pain) problems.

5• Not as durable as you wish

Not-as-durable-mattress

While the coconut material is more natural, all of the fiber that is used does not hold up so well after long periods. It can happen after years that pass, you may notice the shape will deform and begin to have a memory dent where your body is laying.

Therefore, the coconut mattress is not considered a quality of durable bedding.

6• Not as relaxing for some

The time it takes to fall asleep will be longer due to the tossing and turning’ motion of someone trying to get comfortable on their bed. More people who fall asleep faster in softer beds will not find it relaxing enough to sleep sooner on a Coir Fibre mattress.

Therefore it may suit the elderly more…

7• Perhaps you will not sleep soundly.

bad-sleep

While Coir Fibre mattresses provide great cooling properties, it cannot guarantee that you will sleep more soundly. Some need that deep sleep from a softer mattress style. If you are a problem sleeper than this style mattress is not for you.

If you are a light sleeper, I do not advise you to think about this type of mattress.

8• Heavier than other mattresses

heavy-mattress

Because of the heavier fibers used, coconut is not a light material compared to foam mattresses. The coir fiber is compacted and glued in layers, the result is often heavier than you might expect.

It may not be vital, but it may affect your final choice.

9• Latex adhesive can fall apart

Latex adhesive can fall apart

Not every coir fiber mattress is going to have the right amount of latex adhesive to hold coconut fiber together. Every manufacturer is using its own process to make it, and many will vary from brand to brand. After some time, there may be spots where fiber is separating from the sides of the mattress.

It should be noted that if this happens, the mattress is completely finished.

10• Humid climate affects coconut fiber badly

Humid climate affects coconut fiber

Since the coconut fiber is a porous material, it is prone to absorbing moisture. This is great for keeping your body temperature cooler, but not so great for climates where the humidity is high. It can soak up too much moist air and sag a lot sooner than you would like it to.

If you live in such an atmosphere, then this mattress ( coconut fiber ) is not your best option.
