Bed bugs have been feeding on human blood and leaving behind itchy rashes from thousands of years.
They are known by this name for a reason as they like to reside in areas where people generally sleep, especially the beds and other upholstered furniture.
These insects can also be found in the cracks of furniture. Moreover, they are non flying, tiny oval-shaped insects, No matter how small they are, they make a living by sucking blood out of you.

You normally bring bed bugs back with your luggage after a holiday or a hotel stay. So, if you notice a rash shortly after you have traveled, then it might be an indication of an infestation.
Nevertheless, the rash is not as a reliable sign as other signs, because the rash could be due to a bite of some other insect or could be a skin condition. Another important thing is that the rash from bed bug bites may appear dissimilar on different people.
Furthermore, it might be possible that you got bitten while travelling and you have not brought any bed bugs back. The most practical thing that you can do to look for signs of bed bugs, is to look for the physical presence of bed bugs.
You can look into seams of mattresses, crevices of upholstery, junctions of walls and the corners of furniture. If you spot insects in these areas that are reddish brown in color and in the size of a small seed, then you have spotted the culprit itself.
One of the most important signs that you should look around for is the molten skin. Bed bugs are one of those insects that have an exoskeleton; that is a skeleton on the exterior of the body.
After these insects have fed, they have to grow, and they have to get rid of the exoskeleton to allow their growth. You can spot this molten skin in your house.
The molten skin looks like the bed bug itself, and you would be able to spot them in places such as the seams of mattresses, on the back side of head boards, at the junction of walls and on the furniture.
One more important thing that you should look for is fecal spots. After feeding on blood, these creatures leave behind fecal spots that are normally black in color.
You can find these black spots as on the seams of curtains and mattresses, junctions of ceilings or walls, on the rear side of head boards or any other place that can host these parasites.
You should look for the aggregations of these pests, their eggs, fecal spots and molten skin to find the habitat of the bed bugs in your house.
