Factors in Determining Your Mattress Size
It is calculated that if a person sleeps the average six to eight hours per day, as he should, almost one-third of his life will be spent in bed. This places a huge amount of importance on choosing the right mattress to sleep on.
The right mattress will help keep your mind alert and your body energized. It can also assist in relieving back pain, which is a major problem that almost eighty percent of the population complains of.
Due to the importance of sleep in general and, more specifically, the right mattress, it is necessary to take into consideration the options you have to choose from when deciding what mattress is right for you.
The right mattress will provide you with comfort while being made of quality materials. You must also factor in the firmness of the mattress, the manufacturer brand, the warranty that comes with the mattress and the mattress size.
Mattress Sizes from Which to Choose
In the United States, there are five main options when it comes to mattress size. The standard mattress sizes found in any mattress store are the twin, full, queen, king, and California king. There is, of course, the option of custom mattress sizes, as well.
The lengths of each different mattress size are generally constant, whereas the widths may differ slightly. A twin mattress is the same length as a full mattress, which measures 75 inches long. Measuring at 80 inches in length are the queen and king size mattresses.
The longest of all the mattresses are the California king coming in at 84 inches long. For a normal couple, a twin or full-size mattress can get cramped, so a queen or king is a better choice for a couple.
How to Choose the Right Mattress Size
With all the different mattress sizes available, you may be unsure as to which mattress size will be right for you. A general guideline to help you choose a mattress without coming up too short is to get a mattress size that is at least six inches longer than your height.
Choosing a mattress that is too short or too narrow can interrupt a restful sleep. This will prevent your body from getting a proper night of sleep and functioning the way that it should. The right mattress size will make all the difference in helping your body and mind to perform to their maximum capability.
