The average span of a good mattress is 8 to 10 years. Mattresses made of good and durable material like the super fine quality airbeds and innerspring mattress with the help of wire coils can be used up to 10 years.

Such mattress loses its firmness and gives you a soft feel, the mattress then makes your body to skin into it and does not allow you to move freely. Of course you need a firm mattress to turn freely and avoid back pain. To avoid such back pain you should use a firm and good mattress which is not saggy.
Bed bugs might have taken refuge into the mattress:
You don’t have to think a lot about how you are getting insect and bug bites when you are very much sure that there are no insects and mosquitoes in your room. Bed bugs are responsible for them.
One major reason you may get bed bugs in your mattress is that your mattress isn’t cleaned regularly. Also too old mattress can also be one factor. Because you have been using the same mattress for so long, dirt and dust might have entered and accumulated inside.
Apart from bed bugs, the mattress might also be having germs, dust mites and allergens. So keep this factor in mind as this can even give you skin rashes and other skin allergies, and consider changing the mattress.

You fight a lot with your partner:
This might sound a bit weird to you… Doesn’t it? Well this is possible. Here we are not suggesting you to change your mattress if you are having a trouble relation with your partner.
The point here is mostly beds which were manufactured long ago were not equipped with the feature that lowers motion transfer. (Less Partner Disturbance)
When you try to sleep on your bed, even when you are too tired the constant turning and tossing of your partner can awaken you and you may also get back pain.
However thanks to the modern technology. The newly made mattresses have got the ability to distribute your weight evenly on the bed and that results into less motion transfer. This means even when your partner turns and tosses you will not feel it.
